Hearing Loss Spectrum

It is necessary to understand that the hearing loss spectrum refers to the range of hearing your child has from normal hearing to profound hearing loss. 

  • Two measurements of Sound:
    • Decibels (dB): Loudness
    • Hertz (Hz): Pitch or frequency

A brief scale of Hearing loss (further explanation will be offered by your audiologist)

  1. Normal Hearing – 15Hz or less of hearing loss
  2. Slight Hearing loss – 15-25Hz
  3. Mild – 25-45 Hz
  4. Moderate – 45-55Hz 
  5. Moderate – Severe – 55-75 Hz
  6. Severe – 75 Hz+
